Card of the Month May 2011 : Reborn Tengu

Name: Reborn Tengu
Attribute: Wind
Stars: 4
Type: Beast-Warrior
Effect: When this card is removed from the field, Special Summon 1 "Reborn Tengu" from your deck.
Atk: 1700
Def: 600

With the release of Extreme victory and this little guy, the strategies of some decks are gonna change. This card is just too good not to have.

Decks that can use this:

Plants
- With Tengu they have a useful non-tuner, 1700 beater that can ram into troublesome cards replacing itself. It also makes pot of avarice more playable since it thins the deck alongside lonefires, card troopers, and rykos.

Scraps (Oh man my favorite deck lol)
- Now scraps have an awsome non-tuner who can be used as synchro material for scrap dragon and can be used for his effect all in one move. :D
 - Tengu on field > summon Scrap beast > Synchro beast and tengu for scrap dragon > tengu's effect kicks in grabbing another tengu > Scrap dragon pop tengu > Tengu grabs yet another tengu! pretty cool if you ask me.

Fableds
- In here, it won't be as bad when you draw 2 or more tengus. You have discard cards anyways and hey it makes avarice playable. Fableds can spam the field quickly with tuners which leaves spots open for good non tuners. Hey! there's tengu!

Mist Valleys
- For those who know me, they know I'm a big fan of random "rogue" decks. Mist valleys happen to be one of them. Tengu can attack your opponent, Mist valley falcon can attack (bringing tengu to the hand), Summon another tengu and attack again. That's 1700 + 2000 + 1700 = 5400 lifepoints! Also, the mist valley field spell "Divine wind of mist valley" has some pretty nice combos with this guy.

Monarchs
- Tribute Tengu for a monarch, pop a card, get another tengu. 2400 + 1700 = 4100. Quick and simple.

The possibilities are endless with this guy. You can even use Ally Genex Birdman for a quick level 7, use it for a tribute for your monarch, even use enemy controller to tribute it off for your opponents card Hey look Tengu's back! However you play yugioh, make sure to look out and possibly grab a few of these cards.

But like all things, there's some rules to this guy.

- When Tengu is removed/destroyed/sent to the grave face down on the field, it does NOT get its effect. In other words, Reborn Tengu must be "Face up tengu" when it leaves the field if you plan on using its effect.
-If Reborn Tengu is attacked face down, it WILL get its effect because when attacked, it will flip up during damage calculation.
-The Effect is Mandatory (Which means it CAN be activated during the damage step)
- The Effect does NOT activate if Reborn Tengu is removed from the field to the deck.

Thanks guys hope this was helpful.
